ABOUT US
Temple Farm is a family farm based on the edge of the Somerset
Levels specialising in Free Range Pork Beef and Lamb. It is about
100 acres –comparatively small by today’s terms. And
is run by Andrew and Judith Denning with a lot of help from their
four children. The farm has been in the family for over 100 years
during which time it has seen a great many changes but has always
been a traditional livestock farm. A bed and breakfast and self-catering
lodge are also run along side the farm as another stream of income.
Free Range Meat from Chedzoy in Somerset
With farm incomes being eroded by middle men we have decided to
concentrate on selling our produce – free range meat, juice
and preserves from the farm direct to the public which we have been
doing very successfully for the past two years. All our animals
are reared free range to high welfare standards and live outside
for a minimum of nine months per year – some all year round.
We also have several orchards which have never been sprayed or fertilized
from which we press our own apple juice.
Because we are a small farm and we don’t source meat anywhere
else we don’t have fresh meat every week although we try to
at the present and its not often that we have two types of meat
at the same time – Christmas being the exception, when we
have everything. In essence as trade grows we will have fresh more
frequently – we usually try to have it ready for the weekend
and generally that’s when we’re around(Friday &
Saturday). For those who can call in to the farm frozen meat is
readily available – please ring first if you are making a
special trip mid week as the shop is not manned at all times because
we are only small.
